Prime Minister Ana Brnabic talked today with Ambassador of Canada to Serbia, Giles Norman about bilateral relations between the two countries and cooperation in the field of economy, education and digitalization.

The officials concluded that, apart from the mining and energy sectors, in which Canadian companies have traditionally interested, there are numerous areas for interstate cooperation. This is indicated by Canadian companies that operate in Serbia and give a direct impetus to economic cooperation, the Prime Minister explained.

She cited the example of the company "Magna", which will give a significant impetus to the development of this part of Serbia by opening a new plant in Aleksinac.

The Ambassador of Canada, emphasising that Serbia has made great progress in the field of innovation and digital transformation and achieved serious results in the field of e-government, offered the experience of this country, as one of the leaders in the field of electronic services.

Brnabic invited Norman and representatives of the Canadian Embassy to join the work of the Working Group for Security and Protection of Journalists of the Serbian government, along with other partners already participating in the work - OSCE Mission, EU Delegation to Serbia, Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, which Norman accepted.

As stated at the meeting, the Serbian diaspora in Canada is an important link between the two countries, and in that sense, a direct airline between Belgrade and Toronto is extremely important and a direct incentive for faster development of our relations and the two sides are intensively working on introducing this line.
